A Perfect Picture

Okay so today I want to talk about how important it is know exactly what kind of life you want/need. I never realized how important this was until very recently. This is very much like the article I wrote about having a purpose and goal when dealing with situations. Except today, I want to focus a little more on the wants and needs. For example, we all need a job, we have a purpose and a goal but we rarely think about or even consider the wants and needs. It is very simple for one to get a job as a cashier but if one had dreams of being a Chef, then a job in some kitchen would've worked out a lot nicer. You see this person had purpose and a goal and they got the job as the cashier and this may turn out very well for them for some time but it is very far from optimum. A better scenario would have been looking for jobs that satisfied his wants and needs, which could have included things like; kitchen, cooking, food, etc.. 

So here's what we need to do. Make a list! Make a list of your wants and needs. Whether this is for a job, relationship, health, anything really. Make a list of things that you absolutely need and some things you want.

This will not only help you distinguish those things which are good for you from those things which are bad for you/not for you, it will give you an eye for the those things which are good for you. Here's an example, if you are in the market for a car and you know what color you want, what make, model, year, etc., then it will be very easy for you to pick the car and pull the trigger on buying it. In other words you will know when something is for you, when it isn't and you will have certainty about making your decision. As opposed to what? Well, if you were only sure about the color of the car then you would go for months wondering what car might be for you and what car might not be. And when you finally find the one you think you like, you'll have a very hard time making a decision since you never made up your mind on what you wanted and needed. In other words, if you aren't certain about what you want or need, you will never get what you want or need; at least not very easily.
