Leadership and Transparency
Share
Today I want to discuss good leadership and transparency because the two have a lot to do with one another. An individual can be a good leader to the degree that they can be transparent. In other words, an individual who hides things or goes out of communication with society or his environment, cannot lead very well. This is because seclusion, and lies, are not effective forms of communication. They are twisted lines of communication and twisted lines of communication can only produce twisted results. If your communication is twisted or not there, there's very little possibility for you to lead since that is practically no communication. Try leading an army or a team without communicating with them, impossible. Therefore, one must be as transparent and truthful as possible if he or she is to lead effectively. The more truthful, transparent and communicative an individual is, the better and greater his ability to lead will be; since these are the best kinds of communication one can practice.
So why is this relevant to you and your life? I don't need to know you personally to know that someone, whether it be a family member, a friend, or maybe even a stranger, has at some point looked to you for leadership. If you sit and think of times when people have looked to you for leadership, you will find many. What I am coming down towards now is that we are all leaders. You don't need to lead a military group or be the CEO of a company to be a leader. An older brother can be seen as a leader, maybe even a younger sibling, a parent, a manager, a coworker, the list goes on. This is why I chose to write this article today, not only to improve your leadership skills but to remind you and convince you, that you are a leader, regardless of your career path or occupation.
Back to leadership and transparency. In addition to transparency being an effective and straight lines of communication, it also portrays certainty. And certainty is a powerful thing. An individual can be speaking nonsense, but if they believe it is truth, if they have certainty about it, they will actually have some ability to persuade others on this nonsense. But because the communication is nonsense, sooner rather than later, they will not be very successful in persuading many more individuals. But if the man or woman was communicating truth with tremendous certainty, they would have the power to persuade billions of people, and they would be able to accomplish this very consistently.
If you wish to lead more effectively, be transparent, don't speak falsehoods, and be certain.
