Study!

Today I want to go over the power of the dictionary!!! These things have so much power. It breaks my heart that we weren't taught more in school about them. One of the biggest reasons your combination skills are no good, your understanding of a subject is no good, you forget things,..... is because you don't know how to use a dictionary. 

So let us start with the definition of dictionary. 

Dictionary :a book or electronic resource that lists the words of a language (typically in alphabetical order) and gives their meaning, or gives the equivalent words in a different language, often also providing information about pronunciation, origin, and usage.

Okay, so in short, I dictionary is a tool that provides you with information about word, that leads to you understanding that word. Why is this important? Because if you don't understand the word, how are you going to understand the sentence? And if you don't understand the sentence how are you going to understand the chapter? If you don't understand the chapter how are you going to understand the book or the subject? This is why definitions and your understanding of words is so important. I would even advise you to look up words that you do know every now and then. You will find that most of the time, the definition you though was correct was totally wrong. 

So make sure you do the following! promise you, they will help you diabolically well! 

1. Have a physical dictionary with you 

2. have the dictionary app

3. look up the origin 

4. Come up with a few sentences in your head until you get a really good grip on the meaning of the word and its use.
